Those who live in Twente will need no introduction to the wealth of entertainment available in the region - at most a guide to what’s on. When it comes to culture, there is a myriad of possibilities and we are working all-out on our brand-new Pop and Cultural Arena in Hengelo and in Enschede our newly-opened National Muziekkwartier provides a home for all kinds of events from rock concerts to opera, theatre and dance. The International Jazz Festival in Enschede annually attracts thousands of visitors.

Twente is also the birthplace of stand-up comedian Herman Finkers, who has created many outrageously funny shows.

And last but not least, the region is the home of world-famous Grolsch beer, which is brewed in Enschede and is the preferred tipple of many locals.

In summer nothing can beat relaxing at a pavement cafe, with a glass of something cold. The café culture in Hengelo attracts students, day trippers and families alike, who can all be found basking in the sun. The station is just a stone’s throw away from the bustling city centre. So why not simply leave the car at home? ‘De nacht van Hengelo’, an international cycling event in the city centre, has grown into a major attraction, which acts like a magnet to the thousands of visitors, when the city buzzes with live music all night long.
